Cold Sore Treatment - 3 Phase Plan

Have you tried one cold sore treatment after another, only to be disappointed?

If so, you will be enjoying blessed relief from your cold sores by the time you finish reading this article.

Face it - many products tell you they are a great cold sore treatment.

You buy it, and try it.

It doesn't really get rid of the cold sore, but you feel that you are doing the best you can – and enjoy some relief from the itching and pain. In reality most over-the-counter cold sore treatments are mainly comfort remedies.

It isn't something wrong with you - most of these cold sore treatment salves just don't do much for anyone.

Many of the over-the-counter Cold Sore Treatment options have a numbing ingredient to reduce pain, and an anti-bacterial to prevent secondary infection. Anything to reduce the pain and discomfort is more than welcome. We keep aspirin type products on the shelf for headaches and fevers, so it makes sense to have a good topical treatment for cold sores available too.

But feeling better doesn't mean the cold sore treatment you just put on your lip will help your sore actually heal any faster.

In most cases it won't.

If it were so, you, and millions of others, wouldn't be searching the internet for a better remedy.

If you could find a cold sore treatment that could give you great comfort - and heal your sore up in half the normal time - wouldn't that be fantastic or what?

First, let's make clear what we are dealing with.

The cold sore is caused by the herpes simplex virus. This is a parasite virus that lives in the nerve cells, normally in the face. When it finds the opportunity, it will travel to the surface of your lip or nose, and force the cells there to create new copies of itself. Once the cell is full of new virus, the cell is destroyed freeing the herpes virus clones.

In so doing, the cold sore virus destroys millions of your surface nerve cells creating a few sores that merge into a huge wound.

The key to success in stopping your cold sore - and speeding the healing process - is by halting the replication process, killing as many of the new virus as possible, and sending the cold sore virus back into hibernation.

It is amazing how quickly the your body will heal the sore, once the virus is removed.

Get ice on it as soon as possible.

Laugh if you want, but ice is an awesome cold sore treatment.

It is free and available anywhere at anytime. Nothing magic about it. Maybe not as convenient as a salve or ointment, but it can send the virus packing.

But timing is very important. Even a couple hours can make a big difference.

As soon as you become aware of the beginning of a cold sore event, get some ice on it. Even a cold can of soda or beer will be a great help. The herpes virus hates cold and will stall out or retreat from it.

It is that simple! No matter what stage your cold sore is in, ice as a cold sore treatment is your best friend. You can often prevent a cold sore from breaking out or, at least, greatly delay and shorten the event. It will boost any other remedy, both oral and topical, and will give you comfort as it reduces heat and pain at the sore site.

Killing the herpes virus is as simple as applying alcohol often. May sting a little but it helps prevent spreading of the virus to other people or other areas on your body. A great way to clean the sore too.

You can speed the healing of your cold sore by applying fresh Aloe Vera sap. I've tried the bottled Aloe Vera with not much success.

Get an Aloe Vera plant. All you have to do is break off the tip of a leaf and apply the liquid to your cold sore. Fresh Aloe Vera heals any wound quickly, but be sure to apply alcohol or some other treatment to the infection first or it could heal right over the infection.

There you have it.

A complete plan you can actively use to heal that cold sore right now or help prevent your next outbreak. Enjoy this well proven and easy three-step cold sore treatment.
