Understanding How To Get Rid Of Cold Sores Is Simple

By Dennis Dix

Growing from childhood and into adulthood comes with all sorts of bodily nuisances like acne or ingrown hairs. While we accept these things as nuisances, there is a sort of embarrassment associated with cold sores, also known as fever blisters. Centered along the mouth, there is no makeup that can kind them and so we feel more self conscious than usual. In truth, these sores are extremely common and healing times have been drastically reduced when you know how to get rid of cold sores.

Also called fever blisters, these sores are centered around the mouth. There is nothing that can be done to hide them, like using makeup on a pimple and so many people feel especially self conscious.

In truth, these sores are not uncommon. Many people have had issues with them and it makes sense when you realize how contagious the condition is. Caused by a member of the herpes virus, specifically simplex 1 or 2, sharing anything with a carrier, be it a towel, chap stick, and even kissing can be all you need to get infected.

Once you have been infected you can have outbreaks from time to time due to a variety of triggers. Getting rid of them is simple as there are many over the counter, as well as prescription creams that can be massaged onto the area a few times a day. What was once a sore that would last weeks, can be gone in a few days.

There is no need to panic, however, as there are many different remedies that are available both over the counter and by prescription. Seriously, you can be cold sore free quickly, or avoid them entirely with the right treatment plan.

Becoming infected is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. Indeed, a large segment of the population are living with cold sores with the understanding that it is something that is easily handled.
